1. open notepad.
2. select and copy the following text and paste it in notepad.
3. in notepad, go to File>save as..
4. choose the location where you want to save this file.
5. name the file as 'Genuine.reg'.
6. now, go to the saved file and double click it.
7. a window will pop up saying 'are you sure you want to add the information in ....\Genuine.reg to the registry?
8. click yes.
9. you're done. now your windows XP is genuine and you can download any software/updates from the microsoft website.
